In the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the lab of Dr. James Luyendyk (Michigan State University) and colleagues reported the effects of high fat diets on regular mice, mice with mutated versions of protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR1), and mice with PAR1 deleted from hepatocytes. They also reported that obese mice treated with the PAR1-targeting parmodulin NRD-21 had reduced plasma tumor necrosis factor-alpha, serum alanine aminotransferase activity, hepatic steatosis, and insulin resistance.
